Strangers is a comedy-drama series about a quirky, loved-up young couple – John and Kat.
We join them during their weekly pilgrimage to the local bookshop. A very typical snapshot into their seemingly ordinary lives. Except, on this day, in this bookshop Kat vanishes without a trace leaving a
confused and seemingly ill-equipped John alone and in search of the girl he loves.
The series runs entirely in real-time following John’s desperate efforts to find out what happened to Kat and where she is. The action is only broken up by flashback scenes providing an insight into Kat’s past as the twists turn and the story develops. John begins as a mild-mannered, some would say idiotic character, the weaker of the couple, but it’s entirely down to him to man up and track down the girlfriend he thought he knew through the incredible revelations and unimaginable obstacles.
To find out where Kat is, he must discover who Kat is…
Strangers is a hugely fast-paced series, driven by an exciting plot in the realm of The Wrong Mans with a comedy tone along the lines of Catastrophe and the intrigue and mystery of Gone Girl…without wanting to hype it up too much.
Did we mention it’s a bit like Gone Girl? That was bloody successful wasn’t it… Just sayin’
Strangers is an engaging story where every episode hits a series of dramatic beats, with enough comedy to undercut the tension, building to a climax where each episode’s end-point will make it pretty much impossible to not want to click ‘watch next episode now’ on catch up on demand. There’s more cliff-hangers than that film with Sylvester Stallone where he’s hanging off a load of cliffs all the time, what’s it called? The cliff hanging one? I can’t remember the name.
So what did happen to Kat?
Will John ever see her again and will their relationship ever be the same?
To find out, you’ll have to commission the series…
